About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Eintracht Frankfurt secured a narrow 1-0 victory over FC Heidenheim in their Bundesliga clash on Saturday, 14 March 2026. The match was decided by a solitary goal from Arnaud Kalimuendo in the 53rd minute, which proved enough to separate the two sides in a tightly contested affair. The game was largely expected to be a competitive encounter, with Eintracht Frankfurt coming into the match looking to solidify their position in the upper half of the Bundesliga table. FC Heidenheim, on the other hand, were aiming to pull away from the lower end of the standings. Pre-match odds slightly favored Frankfurt, given their home advantage and recent form. The key moment of the match came early in the second half when Kalimuendo found the back of the net, capitalizing on a lapse in Heidenheim's defense. Despite the goal, the match remained open, with both teams creating opportunities but failing to convert them into goals. A significant turning point occurred in the 73rd minute when Robin Koch (GAP +3.3%) received a red card, leaving Frankfurt to defend their lead with ten men. Koch's dismissal added pressure on the home side, but they managed to hold on, thanks in part to a solid defensive performance from Nnamdi Collins (GAP +3.9%) and Nathaniel Brown (GAP +3.0%). Tactically, Frankfurt's manager made several changes during the match, bringing on Paul Arrhov, Ellyes Skhiri, Elias Baum, Winther Højlund, and Jonathan Burkardt to freshen up the squad. These substitutions were crucial in maintaining the team's defensive solidity after going down to ten men. For FC Heidenheim, the likes of Benedikt Gimber (GAP -5.4%) and Patrick Mainka (GAP -4.4%) struggled to contain Frankfurt's attacking threats, which ultimately led to their downfall. Despite the loss, Heidenheim showed resilience and will look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures. This result sees Eintracht Frankfurt maintain their momentum as they continue to push for a higher league finish. Meanwhile, FC Heidenheim will need to regroup quickly to avoid slipping further down the table as the season progresses.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
